Kathy Wandelmaier is a Master Gardener certified by the University of Connecticut. She also earned a certificate in Garden Design from the Institute of Ecosystem Studies.

Kathy consults with those who prefer to participate in the creation of their own garden, but need assistance.  She provides horticultural knowledge and garden design experience to help the homeowner avoid costly mistakes. She listens to the wants, needs and concerns of her clients and assesses the conditions of the landscape. She combines these facts with an educated aesthetic sense to create a design that is artistic in form and practical in function.

Clients receive a custom-drawn plan and a comprehensive list of landscaping materials. She includes identification, diagnosis and treatment recommendations for insect, weed and disease problems with her service as well.

Kathy designs one-of-a-kind items to enhance the interior and exterior of your home. She also sells her creations at area arts and crafts fairs.

Terrariums provide an easy way to give humidity-loving plants the conditions they need to thrive ~ conditions that are difficult to maintain in the typical home or office. Because of its self-contained environment, a terrarium needs only infrequent watering and minimal care to enjoy a bit of indoor tropics all year long.

Dish Gardens feature succulent plants that are not hardy outdoors in winter. Succulents come in a fascinating variety of shapes and textures, making them ideal for miniature landscapes.

Living Wreaths offer the design flexibility of a wreath combined with live plant material. Easy-care succulents are planted in a wreath form that can be hung on a wall or brought to the table as a centerpiece.

Hypertufa Troughs ~ Hypertufa is made using cement, peat moss and perlite. Containers made with this material drain quickly, can be left outdoors year round and are light enough to be moved around fairly easily. Kathy plants her troughs with hardy cacti, succulents and a variety of plants that enjoy dry and gravelly conditions. Troughs can be designed for placement in sun or shade.
